Community Impact

Together, we make Stoughton stronger. START links individuals and families to vital resources, support, and opportunities; building a connected, resilient community for all.

START offers hope to Stoughton Area School District residents under 55 and
families with children through services like eviction prevention, housing stability support, and assistance with childcare, education, employment, food, healthcare, transportation, utilities, and other basic needs.

Our Core Beliefs

When every community member has the opportunity and resources to thrive, the entire City of Stoughton and surrounding townships benefit—neighborhoods become safer and more stable, children are better positioned to succeed in school, and families can fully participate in community life. Economically, helping households maintain housing and access essential resources reduces costly crises such as homelessness, emergency healthcare, and unemployment, while fostering a stronger local workforce and customer base for local businesses.

START collaborates with schools, social service agencies, local youth programs, the City of Stoughton Juvenile Court, other nonprofits, and dedicated volunteers to build a strong network of support for our community.

Through the contributions and partnerships of local churches, foundations and grants like United Way, businesses, organizations, service groups, and countless members of the Stoughton community, START’s work strengthens individual stability and fosters collective resilience—creating a healthier, more connected, and economically vibrant community for all.
